Is School Shelf free?
Yes, completely free for students. There are no ads and nothing to buy.
Does it work for Junior Cycle and Leaving Cert books?
Yes. It works for any ebook your school uses, from 1st year through Transition Year to 6th year: Junior Cycle, Leaving Cert and Leaving Cert Applied.
Is School Shelf part of Folens Hive, Edco or CJ Fallon?
No. School Shelf is independent and isn't run by any publisher. It's a free shelf for the links to your books, so you can find them all in one place. Each book still opens on the publisher's own site, like Folens Hive or Edco Learning.
Do I still need my publisher logins?
Yes. School Shelf saves the link to each book, and the book opens on the publisher's own website. If you're normally asked to sign in there, you'll still be asked, and your browser will usually remember you.
Which publishers does it work with?
Any of them. Folens Hive, CJ Fallon, Edco Learning, Gill Education, Educate.ie, Mentor and others all work. If a book opens in your web browser, it can go on your shelf.
How do I find the link for a book?
Open the book the way you normally do, then copy the address from the bar at the top of your browser. On a phone, tap Share → Copy. Paste it into School Shelf with Add a book.
Can anyone else see my books?
No. Your shelf is private to your account. Some book links contain a code that signs you in to the publisher, so we keep every link private and never share it.
Does it work on my phone and tablet?
Yes. Sign in on any device and your shelf is there. On a phone you can add it to your home screen: on iPhone, tap Share → Add to Home Screen; on Android, tap ⋮ → Add to Home screen.
Can I delete my account?
Any time, from Account → Delete my account. Your account and every book on your shelf are deleted straight away.
